A favorite at our farm, Mutabilis is such a beauty. Although the flowers are single petaled they offer an abundance of spectacular color. Holding true to the characteristic fading to dark of China rose flowers, Mutabilis begins as a coral bud, opening to a pale yellow then fading to pink and finally crimson. We joke that the name, which is often miss-pronounced, is easy to remember by thinking mutate. It is also known as the 'Butterfly Rose' because of it's colorful display. We think that an impressive Mutabilis shrub topping 6' is especially gorgeous in the fall when it's colors seem to be 'ringing in' the new season.
